Movember, an event that has become unmissable every November for most men. The challenge: growing a mustache. But why do it? Let’s find out together in this article.

What does Movember mean?

Even if it may seem obvious, the term “Movember” comes from combining the first letter of “Moustache” and the month “November”.

As mentioned above, this movement consists of growing a mustache as a sign of solidarity and to raise awareness of men’s health issues. Prostate cancer, testicular cancer, depression, suicide—sounds a bit heavy, right? Why not show some support!

The goal of the Movember Foundation Charity is to improve men’s quality of life worldwide through different actions. Did you know that men have a lower life expectancy than women, on average 6 years less?

How does Movember work?

Kick-off on November 1st! You must shave completely. And yes, I mean completely (keeping your beard is cheating, gentlemen!).

It itches, right?!

Well, you’re not allowed to touch or trim it for the whole month of November. Good luck!

How else can you get involved?

You can simply sign up on the foundation’s website. This will give you access to a list of ways to get involved:

• Organize your own event to raise funds.
• Take part in movement challenges: Mustache Rugby, Mustache Hockey, etc.
• Organize a team building event at your company by raising €10,000 through internal fundraising. For example, a best mustache contest!
• Etc.
