We make
sunglasses.
and we own their
impact.
We make plastic glasses.
And we handle it.
No grand green speeches against a white background. We start with an honest assessment: our product has a carbon footprint, and we’re working on every front to reduce it—sustainability, materials, and end-of-life.
Although our measurement isn’t certified by an official body, it reflects our genuine commitment to reducing our environmental impact.

01.
Make it last rather than replace it.
The best pair of glasses is the one you never have to replace. From the very beginning, we’ve designed our products to be durable and, above all, repairable. In the Extreme line, the temples and lenses snap right off. If a part breaks, you can replace it. The pair itself lasts.
The principle is simple: we’d rather sell one pair that lasts five years than five pairs that last one year.
02.
Reducing our carbon footprint. For real.
On average, a pair of Binocle glasses accounts for about 1 kg of CO₂. We don’t hide this figure—we break it down. And we take action through Ecotree: for every pair of glasses sold, we offset the carbon footprint by purchasing trees in sustainably managed forests in Brittany.
This isn’t a metaphor. These are real trees growing.
03.
Materials we choose with care.
Since 2020, we’ve been gradually incorporating more eco-friendly materials into our acetate lines. We also tested recycled polycarbonate on the Extreme models. The result: glasses that were more brittle and less durable. We said no. Because eco-friendly glasses that break after three months aren’t a good idea.
Nevertheless, we have developed some of our products using recycled materials or materials that are more eco-friendly in their composition. The pouches, for their part, are made from recycled PET derived from plastic bottles.
04.
When we can't fix it, we recycle it.
Some pairs can no longer be repaired. Rather than storing them or throwing them away, we give them a second life: the materials are transformed into everyday objects, such as shopping cart tokens, among other things. It’s not glamorous. It just makes sense.
Selling less isn't the goal.
But selling better is.
We asked ourselves questions we could have avoided. About our unsold inventory, our waste, and what we ask of our customers. Here are the answers we came up with—not perfect, but honest.
01.
Give used eyeglasses a second life.
In partnership with the barbershop La Barbe de Papa, we’ve set up eyewear collection stations. The collected pairs are sent to Comeback, which refurbishes them and resells them at a discount. This is a concrete example of the circular economy and a way to make eyewear even more accessible.
02.
Minor flaws don't deserve to be thrown away.
Sometimes we receive products with imperfections that aren’t visible to the naked eye. For a long time, we didn’t know what to do with them. In the end, the answer was obvious: sell them at a lower price rather than store them or destroy them.
That’s the Binocle Outlet. Nearly perfect glasses at even more affordable prices. Less waste, more purpose.
03.
Engage our customers. Really.
We already offset the carbon footprint of every pair through Ecotree. But we’ve gone a step further: we’re offering our customers the chance to double that amount for just €0.05 more per pair of glasses. No obligation, no guilt—just an invitation to take action if they choose.
Causes we support.
Not boxes we check.
We don't do charity for the sake of our image. We choose the causes we support because they resonate with us, and we support them in a tangible way—with concrete results, partners, and consistency.

Green Friday
We don't buy into Black Friday. Our glasses are fairly priced all year round—we wouldn't dream of faking a sale we should never have advertised in the first place. 10% of that day's sales proceeds are donated to the Green Friday organization. And if you're looking for even better deals, check out our Outlet (open 365 days a year).
🎀
Pink October
Every October, our website takes on the colors of the fight against breast cancer. We offer a keychain for a donation of any amount: 100% of the proceeds go to an organization supporting the Pink October cause.
No markup, no hard-sell. Just a gesture, at a price you choose.
🥸
Movember
In November, we’re growing mustaches and putting our website to work for men’s health. The concept is simple: buy a keychain, choose a donation amount, and 100% of the proceeds go to Movember. We’ve even launched a limited-edition collection featuring mustache-shaped frames.
Because men’s health deserves to be highlighted, too.
A headquarters powered by
solar energy
We designed our Binocle House to reflect the values we stand for. Solar panels on the roof, charging stations on the ground. For the team, for our customers, for everyone who passes by. Because a commitment that stops at the office door isn’t really a commitment.
