Your mask feels hot, you can’t see anything through your fogged-up glasses, and you’re trying not to touch your face? This is what a glasses wearer’s routine looks like during this pandemic period!

Luckily, there are solutions to remove fog from your glasses and avoid looking like a distressed zombie when you go out for a walk.

Why do your glasses fog up?

When you wear a mask, the warm air from your breath is directed upwards. Condensation then occurs when warm air comes into contact with the cold surface of your lenses. And then you know what happens next… fog appears!

Anti-fog tips

1. Adjust your mask

The first thing to do is check how well your mask fits! It needs to be tight against your face so it sticks to your skin and prevents the air from your breath escaping upwards, otherwise your glasses will quickly fog up.

You can use a mask with a nose clip or a wire at the bridge of the nose to adjust it to the shape of your face. And if you don’t have one, use a piece of medical tape to stick the top of the mask around your nose (we’re not really worrying about style anymore these days, don’t worry).

You can also tuck your mask behind your glasses. This method works more or less depending on your type of glasses and the type of mask. It’s up to you to try!

2. Use Marseille soap

Soap has been one of the stars of recent months! Useful for your hands, it is just as useful for your glasses!

Apply a little Marseille soap to the front and back of your clean lenses. Spread it using a microfiber cloth. Let it dry and put your glasses on!

The fog on your glasses will disappear as quickly as it appeared!

3. Plan B: shaving foam

If you have run out of soap, grab your can of shaving foam. Apply it to your lenses in the same way as soap, then rinse with warm water. Fog on your glasses won’t last long.

4. Try the tissue technique

As we have seen, fog forms because of air condensation. To remove it, you can place a pre-folded tissue between your skin and your mask, above your mouth and across the bridge of your nose. The moisture will be absorbed and goodbye foggy glasses!

5. Try anti-fog gel

Anti-fog sprays exist to prevent fog from forming on your glasses. Just like with soap, apply it to your lenses using a microfiber cloth and… that’s it!

Also remember to clean your glasses properly every day for better comfort!
